THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND RISHIPATH’S ‘LOGO’

Rishipath’s logo is a symbolic representation of its vision and mission. It is comprised of various components that reveal the embedded Vedic wisdom.

1. Book with four open pages – The book in this logo symbolizes the Vedas. The four open pages represents the four Vedas which help one to fulfil the Purushartha Chatushtaya (Dharma, Artha, Kama & Moksha). Four is also a representation of Upavedas, Avesthas (Jagrat, Swapna, Sushupti and Turiya), Chaturvarnas (Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shoodra), Chaturashrams (Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sannyasa), Sharira-Indriya-Sattva-Atma.

2. Six green leaves on the two sides – It symbolizes the yogic concept of piercing the initial six of the eight chakras (Muladhara, Svadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna, Manas and Sahasrara) situated in the subtle body. Punya Karma (Tapa, Svadhyaya and Dhyana) helps in awakening of the latent kundalini energy through which these chakras are pierced and channelizes the individual’s energy. This process eventually transforms a person from a normal human-being to a Super human-being. Six is also a representation of the Vedangas, Upangas, Shadrasa (Six tastes), Shatkarmas etc.

3. Thirty-three grains on each side- It represents the 33 Koti (types) of Devatas. Deva or Devata, as is deciphered in scriptures, is the one who gives (दानाद्वा द्वितनाद्वा). The idea is to remind every follower of Rishi tradition that we are blessed by the Devas who provide us light, rain, air, food etc. 24X7. It is our duty to acknowledge their blessing, be courteous to them and take steps to preserve and protect them always.

4. Seven colours- This reminds individuals to think of the eternal thoughts of Vedas and Vedic literature in all the colours (situations) of life. Thinking eternal thoughts generates the most ideal action that should be performed in a particular situation.

5. Hand – It signifies support, co-operation, and unity. RIF through its various spiritual and philanthropic projects, is committed to raise the standard of living of every follower of Rishi tradition, but also to enjoy total success in every dimension of life. The hand also symbolizes dynamism, hard work, inspiration to perform actions etc.

6. AUM and globe – Although every name represents some quality of Ishvara, however only AUM has been found to express all his Guna-Karma-Svabhava simultaneously. AUM is His most appropriate unique name. The position of AUM at the centre of hand signifies that Ishvara is at the core of every project, endeavour, planning etc. of RIF. The organization is inspired, powered and driven by the prescribed actions of Ishvara in Vedas and elaborated, supplemented and decodified by Rishis in their literature.

The globe at the top of AUM is symbolic that Ishvara is the base, foundation or the root of this planet (हिरण्यगर्भ: समवर्त्तताग्रे भूतस्य जात: पतिरेक आसीत्। दाधार पृथिवीं द्यामुतेमां कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम॥) Like the root which supports and nourishes the shoots, leaves, flowers, fruits of the tree; similarly, it is Ishvara who supports and nourishes this planet and its habitants.

7. Three extended fingers- Various concepts associated with Rishi tradition have a significant association with the number ‘3’. The three extended fingers represent some of them –

(i) Universal, Eternal, and All-encompassing principles.

(ii) Tapa, Svadhyaya & Dhyana.

(iii) Putreshana, Vitteshana & Lokeshana (Longing for one’s family, wealth and fame respectively)

(iv) Trigunas (Sattva, Rajas & Tamas)

(v) Tridoshas (Vata, Pitta & Kapha)

(vi) Rinatraya (Rishirina, Devarina & Pitririna)

(vii) Trimoorti (Brahma, Vishnu & Mahesh)

(viii) Three coverings (Mala, Vikshepa & Aavarana)

(ix) Trividha Duhkha/Taapatraya (Adhyatmika, Adhibhautika & Adhidaivika)

(x) Shariratraya (Sthula, Shukshma & Karana Sharira)

(xi)Lokatraya (Dyu, Antariksha & Prithvi)

8. Jnana Mudra with divine light in Abhaya Mudra Jnana-mudra is a symbolic representation of RIF’s commitment to re-connect the believers of Rishi tradition with the eternal source of wisdom, knowledge, and sciences – the ‘Vedas’. It also represents the dualities in human life like pain and pleasure, aggression, and peace etc.

Abhaya-mudra represents that everyone irrespective of their caste, creed, culture, and religious background can fearlessly tread the path of Rishis, for whom the entire planet is their home, and all the beings are their family members.

The divine light represents the union of Sun and Moon i.e., Pingala and Ida Nadis which corresponds to the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in the physical body. The divine light is symbolic of radiance – Jnana. When the Sun and Moon in life are balanced, radiance (excellence/Jnana) in one’s life manifests, and Jnana leads to Mukti.
